Unravelling the Mystery of GSM
GSM, or grams per square meter, is a critical factor when evaluating fabric quality. It measures the fabric's density and thickness, with a higher GSM signifying a thicker, more durable fabric and a lower GSM indicating a lighter, more delicate fabric. Our graphic tees feature a mid-weight 180 GSM fabric, striking the perfect balance between durability and breathability.
The Subtleties of Singles: The Thread Count That Matters
Singles refer to the thickness of the yarn used in the fabric. A higher singles count indicates a finer, smoother, and more luxurious fabric, while a lower count suggests a coarser texture. Our shirts are constructed with 28-singles yarn, providing a soft, smooth texture that is not only comfortable to wear but also holds up well to regular use and washing.
Know Your Fibers: The Case for 100% Cotton
When it comes to choosing the ideal fabric, there are various options, such as cotton, polyester, and blends that combine both. Each has its pros and cons:
- Cotton: Soft, breathable, and biodegradable, but prone to shrinkage. Also, the best material for absorbing ink in screen-printing and digital printing processes. Graphics printed on cotton will last longer and appear more vibrant than graphics printed on other fabrics.
- Polyester: Durable, wrinkle-resistant, and quick-drying, but less breathable and repels ink used in DTG and screen-printing processes.
- Blends: While aiming to provide the best of both worlds, blends often fall short, inheriting the drawbacks of both fibers. The result is a compromised fabric that lacks the distinct advantages of either pure cotton or polyester.
After careful consideration, we chose 100% combed cotton for our shirts (with heathers containing 15% viscose). This decision was made due to the unparalleled comfort, breathability, and biodegradable nature of cotton, which aligns with our commitment to quality and sustainability. To address the shrinkage issues associated with cotton, our shirts are pre-shrunk, ensuring they maintain their size and shape after washing.
